Post-game comedown (Sunday, January 06, 2008)

DISCLAIMER: this blog is mine & mine alone. Thou shalt not blame family nor friends nor employer for what you may read here.

Just got home from the Bucs-Giants playoff game in Tampa, and to my disappointment the wrong team won. It was a tale of two games: the first quarter, and the last three. The Bucs won the first quarter on offense & defense but lost the last three, and looked like a totally different team. Disappointing end to what was all in all a good season: from 4-12, last in the NFC South in 2006 to 9-7 and division champs this year.

The playoff experience was amazing. The stadium crackles w/electricity before kickoff, you can feel the virtual energy surge. The Bucs gave out red & white flags to all the fans, so being amid the sea of color was pretty fantastic. There was more noise in the stadium (for the first 15 minutes anyway) then I've ever heard in an outdoor sports event. Fuckin' amazing. Had a few Giants fans sprinkled in but they weren't overly obnoxious throughout the game. Seemed to be a pretty good-spirited crowd, minus the few requisite morons.

Unfortunately the end result wasn't what we hoped for but the day was still not a total loss by any stretch. And, I have 2 preseason & all 8 regular season games to look forward to for the 2008-09 season as well. I'm hoarse as hell from the game & won't be back at full volume or timbre (much to the joy of all around me I'm sure ;o)) til the end of the week.

So now I'll be rooting for the Packers in the NFC outta respect for Brett Favre & sentimentality's sake, and the Patriots in the AFC. Not that I like New Englad at all really, but it'd be cool to see them wrap up the undefeated regular season w/a Super Bowl title, and finally put the damn Dolphin's fans on mute; no more talk of the 'Fins undefeated title season of 35 or so years ago. So there're still a few weeks of football left to enjoy, and once the Super Bowl ends I count down the days til MLB spring training & the F1 auto racing season kicks off.

I'm beat, and hungy so I'm done here for now. Hope everyone had/has a great weekend & enjoys life & what you're blessed to have goin' for ya. Over & out.
