Scratch that, there is no such thing as a bad day at the beach. Sun, surf, sand - a trifecta that's hard to beat. The sound of the incoming surf, the smell of saltwater & suntan lotion, the warmth of the sun, the sand beneath my toes, these are a few of my favorite things.

These are the reasons I live in Florida near the water, and some of the reasons I'll probably never leave. People save money for months, spend thousands to travel here & for accommodations, and wait all year to take a week or two of vacation & escape the cold, and I'm lucky enough to live here all year long.
I remember being in Iowa in January (or February, sometimes March), and looking w/envy at the weather maps as we Midwesterners suffered single-digit high's, sub-zero low's, while it was another day of "sunny & 70" in Florida. Shorts instead of snowsuits, sandles versus snow boots, tank tops, not parkas.

Summers are hot & humid it's true, but I prefer being hot to being cold. I'd rather take off layers instead of put 'em on. And the six or seven months of the year when the weather is better here than just about anywhere else in the country makes it all worth while.

Ah, home.
