Fuh-fuh-fuh FRIDAY
Thank God It's Friday...no words have rang more true than they do for me right now. Yup it's the end of the work week, w/a three-day weekend dead ahead. It's been a busy couple of weeks at work but by & large they've been good weeks. Thus far the year at work has been demanding, and required metric tons of brain fuel & intense mental gymnastics. But as a result of the expenditure & exercise I've gotten a fuckload done so I can't help but feel good about that. I'm learning more about the job & what tools I work with (both application & otherwise), and am proving myself more valuable. It's called job security, and it cannot be underrated. Big things coming up in the first six months of the year at work, most of which I'm pretty damn stoked about. The IT world is a fluid one, constantly changing & therefore a challenge. You can never know everything there is to know, and what you do know never stays the same. It's a field for which, though lacking in formal training, I seem to be pretty well suited & excel in. So work's good. Being that I spend 37.5 hours there each week, being satisfied, happy & anything but miserable is pretty fucking important.
Games People Play
Something I already knew about myself but that's become more evident is that I cannot fucking stand liars & dishonesty. If you can't tell the truth there's no room for you in my world. I have no tolerance for you, nor time. And if or inevitably when I learn about lies & deception, well, that pretty much seals the fate of the offender in my book. Especially the egregious offenses & offenders...there's no apology that can undo the damage or right the wrong. The same pretty much applies to people that play games. Though not as morally or personally offensive or injurious, I just have no time for the games or the fucksticks that play them.
Oh yeah, I also have disdain for hypocrites, self-righteous holier-than-thou types, those that won't help themselves, and those that fail to realize the little protrusion from the left side of their steering column...yeah, that...it's a TURN SIGNAL INDICATOR. USE IT. And it's usually the same bunch that shake their fist as I blow by, not realizing that (speed) limits are meant to be broken. Piss off.
Snowbowls
This weekend two of the last three meaningful games of the NFL season will be played in Green Bay, WI & Boston. The weather will be borderline frightfully cold (at least for a FL-lovin' dude like me), but hopefully competitive & wildly entertaining. Last weekend's Seahawks - Packers game was a blast to watch & took me back to a few organized & unorganized games like that from personal days of yore. I'm hoping for more of the same in WI & MA this weekend. Despite the Chargers' outstanding gutsy performance last weekend vs. the Colts - backups & 2nd-stringers playing as well as the starters & beating the Colts best in the RCA Dome I just don't see them beating the Pats. And the Giants, meh, pack for home already, forget a trip to AZ in 2 weeks, this is Favre's year. I'm thinking Cheddarheads vs. Chowderheads for the Super Bowl.
Speaking of sports, Spring Training isn't far away, and neither is the F1 season. The Cardinals (and the rest of the MLB squads) strap on the cleats & start swinging the bats, and the 22 F1 pilots buckle up & stomp on the gas. Thank god the dead zone between the Super Bowl & baseball & F1 isn't for long. College basketball hasn't held my attention since Lute Olson coached the Iowa Hawkeyes, and the NBA has not since Michael Jordan retired the second time from the Bulls. Don't even mention his damn Wizards phase...thank god there's plenty of HD shit to watch & stuff to DVR from Feb. til March.
Politics
I haven't been paying too much attention to the caucuses in Iowa nor the New Hampshire primaries so I have nothing to add on this topic. The only thing I can really say is that we only have to endure one more year (counting inauguration) til Dubya is out of office. Hallee-fuckin'-looyah! Then we're faced w/the unenviable task of analyzing & absorbing the damage wrought by 8 years of George W. Bush & his presidency, or what masqueraded as such. The Bad News for whomever wins the White House: you'll never undo what GWB has done to this country & its reputation, even if you had four terms in office. The Good News: you can't possibly be as bad as he was. You will positively shine by comparison. When following a stuttering, misspeaking, borderline-illiterate, economy-wrecking, world-hate-inducing, lie-spewing clusterfuck like Bush, you can't help but look good.
Trivial Shit
Eventually it will get warmer here in FL, the sun will come out again, and yours truly will be back on the beach. There are still 60+ episodes ofThe Sopranos left on HBO On-Demand. No matter how many nights I come home to my dogs, they make me smile each time I walk in the door. My new tattoo has finally stopped itching! For someone that typically scratches mosquito bites raw, I did well & did not pick at or scratch the healing tattoo once. All this stuff makes me happy. 72 hours off work doesn't hurt either when supplemented w/66.6% of a bottle of Grey Goose & a 12 of Heineken Light in the fridge. I don't have a drinking problem. I drink, get drunk, fall down. No problem! Yes, that last blurb was both sarcastic & facetious, don't take it too damn seriously, I sure don't for fuck's sake.
Well, that's it. Time to work out & get on w/the weekend. Enjoy, take care, and if you can't beat 'em, join 'em....fuck 'em if they can't take a joke...and if you're not in the fast lane you're getting run over.
